In response to William J. "Chip" McGruder's comment I would like to add that I have surveyed 13 Hispanic American countries and the work done to gain recognition for sign languages was surprising to me. There are so many good things happening out there. SignWriting will add tremendously to the improvement of deaf education in the Americas. Some countries are already using it!
